Château d'Yquem was purchased in 1593 by Jacques Sauvage, at a time when records already show the practice of certain specific winemaking practices and late harvests. In 1711, the property became fully owned by the Sauvage family, and already contained a vineyard at that time. Today, the property has 126 hectares of vineyards, and was partially acquired by LVMH in 1996.
The 2018 Château d'Yquem is the fruit of a dry and warm year, which resulted in a wine with rich aromas of tropical fruit, mango and passion fruit, along with honey, flowers and lonicera. On the palate it demonstrates a medium to strong body, with notes of lemon, spice, apricot and lemongrass.
