Silver fir honeydew differs from other honey as bees do not collect any nectar for this speciality. Therefore, it can’t be harvested every year. Instead, this honey is made from the honeydew drops that form on the pine needles of the silver fir trees. The bees swarm out to the Black Forest of Germany to collect the honeydew needed for the honey. Because of the intense flavour and dark colour, the honey does not tend to crystallise as quickly as other honey.

It goes especially well with brown bread, milky drinks and dried fruit. Also, it contains a lot of minerals which helps to soften the mucus in people with diseases of respiratory organs.
